Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, Ali Akbar Velayati, met with Iraqi Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi, to discuss the most important events in the region, including the fight against terrorism and the liberation of Mosul.
During the meeting, Abbadi expressed hope that the war in Iraq will end soon, he also said: it is necessary for countries in the region to cooperate with Iraq in the field of security and intelligence in the final war.
According to a statement Prime Minister, Dr. Velayati, advisor to the Supreme Leader and also Chairman of the Supreme Council of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening expressed his country's support for the unity and sovereignty of the Iraqi government.
Dr. Velayati made his trip to Baghdad on Wednesday evening and before meeting with Haider al-Abadi he met with Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National Coalition (the biggest political current in Iraq) and head of the Supreme Islamic Council and also the country's President Fouad Masum.
