A sixth international conference on the Palestinian Intifada will start work in Tehran on February 21 in the presence of a host of intellectuals and politicians from across the world
A sixth international conference on the Palestinian Intifada will start work in Tehran on February 21 in the presence of a host of intellectuals and politicians from across the world.
Iranian Parliament Speaker, Ali Larijani will chair the three-day conference and his aide, Hossein Amir Abdollahian will be its secretary general.
The cultural committee of the conference will be run by Tehran Mayor, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and the committee’s secretary will be Hojatol-Islam, Miesam Amroudi.
The conference will run under the motto of ‘All for Palestine.’
The International Conference on Supporting the Palestinian Intifada was approved in 1989 in Tehran by the Iranian parliament.
The first edition of the conference was held in October 1991 in commemoration of the First Palestinian Intifada (also known as rock intifada) concurrent with Madrid Conference.
The second edition was held in April 2001 concurrent with the second Palestinian intifada that was known as al-Aqsa Intifada.
The third edition was held in April 2006 with a focus on the Israeli aggression of the endangered al-Aqsa mosque and especially its demolition of the Bab al-Moqareba west of the mosque that is located in the occupied al-Quds (‘Jerusalem’).
The fourth edition of conference was held in March 2009 following the Israeli onslaught on Gaza and the subsequent Palestinian resistance.
And, the fifth edition was held in October 2011 with the motto of “the homeland of Palestinians.”
