During 2006 War Saudi Urged ‘Israel’ to Crush Hezbollah, Mufti Banned Even Praying for Resistance

On the 14th anniversary of the Divine Victory achieved by Hezbollah over the Israeli enemy after a 33-day war, numerous memories occupy the mind, but the prominent ones deserve to be always highlighted.

Despite all the political difference among the Arab states and groups, any observer supposes that all of them tend to unite in the case of any war with the Israeli enemy.

This was not the case of the Saudi regime which waited for the seventh day of the war to announce a stance that blames Hezbollah for the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, describing the Resistance’s operations as unacceptable and irresponsible actions.

On July 12, 2006, Hezbollah attacked an Israeli military convoy on the border and capture two of the soldiers, in an operation aimed at liberating the Lebanese prisoners held by the Zionist enemy.

The Israeli occupation army, then, launched a destructive war on Lebanon, committing numerous massacres in various Lebanese areas.

Israeli Channel 13 quoted senior Israeli officials as saying that Tel Aviv had received, during the war in 2006, letters from Riyadh urging it to strike Hezbollah with all its might.

After the Zionist enemy failed to crush the Resistance during the first few days of the war, Saudi FM on July 18 (7th day of the war) publicly blasted the ‘Uncalculated Adventures’ of Hezbollah, saying that Hezbollah operations are unacceptable and irresponsible.

The Saudi treacherous stance was not limited to the political level, Grand Mufti Abdullah bin Jabreen issued, on July 28 (16th day of the war), a strongly worded fatwa declaring it unlawful to support, join or pray for “Shiite Hezbollah”.

The Gulf strategy of normalizing relations with the Zionist enemy dates back to old periods, including 2006 war when the Saudi regime clearly voiced support to the Israeli war on Lebanon.

In this context, US President Donald Trump on Thursday (July 13, 2020) announced what he called a “Historic Peace Agreement” between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, saying they agreed to “full normalization of relations.”
