Qatar Calls on Arab Countries to Form United Front against ‘Israel’ Instead of Normalization

Qatar’s foreign minister said Arab states, instead of normalizing ties with Israel, should create a united front to end the regime’s occupation and safeguard Palestinians’ interests.

“I think it’s better to have a united (Arab) front to put the interests of the Palestinians (first) to end the (Israeli) occupation,” Qatar Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani told the online Global Security Forum, Reuters reported.

He said division was not in the interest of concerted Arab efforts to get the Israelis to negotiate with the Palestinians and resolve the decades-long conflict between the sides.

However, for the states who established ties, “it is up to them at the end of the day to decide what is best for their countries”, he said.

Meanwhile, the top Qatari diplomat invited countries in the region to establish ‘coexistence’ with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera he criticized measures taken to besiege Qatar and thanked Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting Doha in siege condition and called on countries of the region to establish coexistence with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

From the very beginning, “We have opened our doors to dialogue based on mutual respect and respect for the sovereignty of nations, he said, adding, “The crisis of the Persian Gulf has no winner and [the result] is more instability in the region.”

Al-Thani went on to say that Qatar has not taken any hostile action against besieging countries, adding, “We thank and appreciate Islamic Republic of Iran that opened its airspace to Qatar under the siege.”

“We are looking for a fruitful dialogue to resolve the differences prevailed in the region,” he added.
