Israel has no justification for atrocities, follows expansionist philosophy: Analyst

Israel is following an expansionist philosophy through the forced eviction of Palestinian people from their own lands, according to a political analyst.

Michael Springmann, a Washington-based author and former US diplomat in Saudi Arabia, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Friday while commenting on the Tel Aviv regime's habitual acts of terror in Palestine. “There are absolutely no justifications for the apartheid entity’s habitual acts of terror in occupied Palestine. There are only explanations,” Springmann said. Citing Gilad Atzmon, an Israeli-born British novelist, Springmann described Zionists as “tribal” and said the Israeli regime has a “unique, racially driven, expansionist philosophy that seeks to cleanse itself of Palestinians.” The analyst also pointed to the support Tel Aviv receives from the West and the influence the Israeli Jews have on the US political and economic system. “Zionism has the full support of the United States, despite the fact that Jews comprise only two percent of its population of 330 million,” Springmann said.     “Israel, through its cats’ paws in America, controls elections, the news media, and education,” he added. “Jewish organizations contribute vast sums to American politicians, Jews hold influential positions in newspapers, television, and radio, and they exert great control over high school and college textbooks’ commentary on Israel. Springmann also underlined the losses Isreal has inflicted upon Palestinians in over 70 years, arguing that providing monetary compensation for them won't be enough.     “The Zionist oppressors of Palestine and other Muslim nations should do more than provide monetary compensation to Palestinians for their losses since 1948. Israel should permit the return of the Palestinians it has forced into exile over nearly 75 years, three-quarters of a century.Israelis should return the homes they have stolen from the Palestinians."           “And the money for all of this should not come from the United States and Europe, the main backers of the Zionists, but from Jews from all over the world—from their businesses in America and elsewhere as well as from Jews and Jewish businesses in the Zionist entity,” he added. Springmann's comments come as Israeli forces have been demolishing Palestinian homes and structures in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which is situated in the vicinity of the walled Jerusalem al-Quds' Old City, for the construction of a new settlement outpost. Under an Israeli court ruling, some 28 Palestinian families face the threat of forceful eviction from the neighborhood. The Israeli regime has been demolishing Palestinian homes in the neighborhood for the construction of a new settlement outpost. In a statement on Thursday, the Red Crescent said at least 22 Palestinians had been injured overnight when Israeli troops attacked their protest rally against the harsh eviction measure. The Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas has called on Palestinian people everywhere, especially in the occupied West Bank and areas occupied by Israel since 1948, to stage a sit-in at al-Aqsa Mosque on the last nights of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan next week. Israel occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip during the Six Day War in 1967. It later had to withdraw from Gaza but placed the enclave under siege.
