Leader’s senior adviser has told a meeting of Belgian parliament delegation the supporters of terrorism could not easily disentangle themselves from the consequences of extremism.
Ali Akbar Velayati met with a Belgian delegation of the Parliament headed by Mr. Dirk van der Maelen, head of Belgian House of Representative Foreign Affairs and International Relations Commission on Sunday evening. He set three conditions by which Syrian crisis could reach a healthy end; “agreement on Syrian territorial integrity, ending foreign intervention in Syria, and recognizing Assad government as legitimate government post-crisis period should be respected; under current situation, no supporter of terrorism would easily scape the consequences of terrorism and extremism they had been avidly supported in Syria, and the abyss they had been trapped would not readily deliver them unharmed,” Velayati told Belgian official.
“They had gravely misconstrued the Syrian government and people who had been defending the country for 6 years against internationally-recruited terrorists, and thus underestimated the force and the zeal Syria was defended,” Velayati added.
Mr. Dirk van der Maelen told the meeting he was pleased to meet Velayati, a figure who he believed showed great experience and skills in international and regional issues; “your valuable advice would prove effective in helping solve the crisis in Syria,” he praised Mr. Velayati’s expertise.
Belgian Parliamentary delegation will continue a 5-day visit to Tehran and will meet Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Parliament, and Alaeddin Boroujerdi, head of Parliament NSFPC. The delegation has among its notable members 3 senators as well.
