Iran warns Arab League not to mistake friend, foe

The spokesman of Iran’s foreign ministry voiced regret over the repetition of false ownership claims of some Arab countries in Arab meetings.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always announced that it basically does not need to intervene in the domestic affairs of other countries and has always observed neighborliness, respect to the sovereignty of other governments, and no interference in the internal affairs of other countries, as in line with the principles of Iran’s constitution and international regulations,” said Spokesperson of Iran’s Foreign Ministry Bahram Ghasemi on Thursday after voicing regret about the repetition of some ‘futile and worn-out claims’ against the Islamic Republic of Iran.   “We cannot hide our deep sorrow over some Arab and Islamic heads of states’ deviation from focusing on the most important problems and issues of the region and the Islamic world and the shared dangers threatening all Islamic countries, despite all experiences and lessons of the past,” highlighted the Iranian diplomat. “They are unable to identify between friends and foes and advertently or inadvertently make mistakes.”   “These islands are Iranian and will remain Iranian and restating false claims about them would not change historical realities,” said Mr. Ghasemi about the repetition of claims about the three Persian Gulf islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa. “We basically take these repetitions at different Arab meetings as interference in the domestic affairs of the Islamic republic of Iran and categorically condemn and reject such claims.”   “It is of big disappointment that some, with reversing realities, intend to put the Islamic Republic of Iran in place of the Zionist Regime to make an imaginary and fabricated enemy,” stressed the Iranian diplomat. “But it has to be known that these inappropriate and imposing efforts would fruit nothing.” He underlined that the people of the region would never forget the crimes, murders, and atrocities of Israel against Palestinian women, children, and civilians
