Iran’s Qalibaf: US Exposed after Elections, Iran Economy Shouldn’t Be Tied to White House

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that Iranian people’s livelihoods should not be tied to the victory or defeat of anyone in the White House.

In remarks carried by ranian media on Sunday, Qalibaf described the recent US presidential elections as instructive. “The US, which for years hid its structural, social, political and economic problems with its media power, was now exposed to the world’s public opinion,” Qalibaf was quoted as saying by Mehr news agency. “The real US, which, along with its economic and military strength, is embroiled in deep social divisions and structural discrimination, is a long way from a dramatic US. The real picture of US showed the declining trend of this country in front of the eyes of the world’s oppressed,” he added. The Iranian speaker cited Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah’s remarks when the Resistance Leader voices happiness US President Donald Trump lost the presidential race. “As my dear brother Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said a few days ago, we are happy with the defeat of the killer of Lt. General Qassem Suleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis,” Qalibaf noted. He blamed the “corrupt regime in the United States for its misdeeds,” stressing that the US forces must withdraw from the region.” “Although we are happy with the defeat of the gambler Trump, we deeply believe that people’s lives and livelihoods should not depend on the victory or defeat of anyone in the White House,” the Iranian speaker said.
