Iran Reiterates Support for Lebanon amid Western Pressure

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has congratulated Lebanon on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of Independence Day, reaffirming Tehran’s support for Beirut and its preparedness to strengthen bilateral relations.

Rouhani made the remarks in a letter sent to his Lebanese counterpart, Michel Aoun, on Sunday. Rouhani said Lebanon experienced tough days this year, but the country emerged victorious through “withstanding and resistance” under the guidance of its wise leaders. Lebanon “showed to the world that the path of dignity, independence and prosperity is lasting under your presidency and that rapport and cooperation will continue among various political currents,” he added. “As in the past, the Islamic Republic of Iran stands by the resistant Lebanese government and people and is ready to develop bilateral cooperation in all fields.”   Source: Press TV
