Iranian Parliament: European Parliament’s Resolution on Islamic Republic ‘Ridiculous’

Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission strongly condemned a resolution that the European Parliament has adopted on the human rights situation in Iran.

In a statement released on Saturday, the commission rejected what it called European Parliament’s “interference in the internal affairs” of Iran, describing the resolution as “ridiculous”. The Iranian commission also denounced a recent report published by the UK Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee about the Islamic Republic as well as the French government’s reaction to the execution of an Iranian convict. “The European Parliament which is opposing capital punishment and supporting convicts is the very same institution that remained silent on the cowardly assassination of Iranian scientists,” the commission said, accusing the European Parliament of sponsoring anti-Iranian terrorists and separatists, and hosting leaders of terrorist groups. The European Parliament adopted two resolutions taking stock of the human rights situation in China, Iran and Egypt. The text of the resolution against Iran was approved in the European Parliament by 614 votes in favor, 12 against and 63 abstentions. Source: Iranian media
