Lebanese Parliament Endorses Draft Law Aimed at Obtaining anti-Cornavirus Vaccines

The Lebanese parliament held on Friday the UNESCO Palace at a legislative session in which it endorsed a draft law aimed at obtaining the anti-coronavirus vaccines.

The Lebanese parliament held on Friday the UNESCO Palace at a legislative session in which it endorsed a draft law aimed at obtaining the anti-coronavirus vaccines. Lebanon, accordingly, would be able to import all the approved coronavirus vaccines from Pfizer and any other medical firm. It is worth noting that Lebanon would receive the first batch of Pfizer vaccine in February. House Speaker, Nabih Berri, hailed during the session the relentless efforts exerted by the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Health Committee to finalize the proposed law on regulating the emerging use of anti-coronavirus medical products. Speaker Berri stressed  the aforementioned law paves the way for all medical companies and the private sector to import the anti-COVID 19 vaccines. Meanwhile, the caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, has signed a decree transferring funds from the general budget reserve to the budget of the Ministry of Public Health, amounting to a value of LBP / 26,432,000 / for the payment of the second instalment value of the contract signed on 10/10/2020 between the Ministry of Public Health and WHO’s Covax platform, according to which Lebanon has reserved / 2,730,000/ (two million seven hundred and thirty thousand) doses of Covid-19 vaccines from multiple international companies, in addition to / 2,100,000 / (Two million one hundred thousand) vaccines to be provided by Pfizer.
