Jaafari, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said during an informal session of the UN Security Council that Damascus exerts tremendous efforts, despite the huge pressures, to protect and care about the children who are found in the areas that have been liberated from terrorism.

The session, titled “Children in Armed Conflict”, was held via video conference at the initiative of Russia and Kazakhstan, SANA news agency reported.

Terrorism is one of the most dangerous scourges that affect countries and communities, Jaafari stressed, noting that the first affected ones will be the children.

He pointed to recruiting children to take part in terrorist acts as the most complicated image of the impacts of terrorism.

The amphitheater of ancient city of Palmyra was witness on these acts where a number of the recruited children at ISIL (Daesh) beheaded 25 Syrian soldiers in front of cameras and these scenes were circulated by media outlets, the Syrian diplomat said.

Jaafari reiterated Syria’s refusal and condemnation to the step by Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict who signed the so-called “Work plan” in June 2019 with the US-backed armed separatist QSD militia in northeastern Syria.

Signing this plan “affirms the biased stance regarding the situation in Syria,” he stated.

He also pointed out to the death of a number of children in Al-Hawl camp in Hasakah while trying to smuggling them inside a water tank.
